The Improvements under this Contract consist of reconstruction and widening of Krome Avenue from a two-lane undivided rural arterial to a four-lane divided rural arterial roadway from south of Kendal drive to north of SW 8th street, minimizing R/W acquisition and meeting the current FDOT design criteria. The Scope of work includes signing and pavement markings, drainage, signalization and a proposed typical section that provides two 12-foot lanes in each direction separated by a 40-foot grass median. An 8-foot inside shoulder (2 ft paved) is provided for both bounds. A 12-foot outside shoulder is (5 ft paved) with guardrail is provided along the northbound.

$250 Million dollar project that consist of widening the Homestead Extension of the Florida's Turnpike (HEFT/SR 821) from 6/8 lanes to 10 lanes with express lanes, from milepost 26 to milepost 34. Improvements include milling and resurfacing and overbuild, widening and reconstruction of the HEFT/SR 821 mainline and associated interchanges improvements at NW 12th Street, NW 41st Street, NW 74th Street, and NW 106th Street. HEFT/SR821 mainline or C-D road bridges to be widened over SR 836/NW 12th Street, NW 25th Street, NW 41st Street, NW 58th Street and the NW 74th Street Canal, and ramp bridges to be widened at NW 41st Street and NW 74th Street. Interchange improvements at SR 836 include the construction of three new ramps including direct connection ramp flyovers (Category II Bridges) from eastbound and westbound SR 836 to northbound HEFT/SR 821 express lanes, and from the south bound HEFT/SR 821 express lanes to eastbound and westbound SR 836. In addition, three new ramp bridges will be constructed at the SR 836 and NW 12th Street Interchanges. NW 117th Avenue will be converted from a two lane two way frontage road between NW 34th Street and NW 41st Street, and from NW 41st Street to NW 50th Street, to a single lane northbound only roadway, and new NW 117th Avenue single lane bridge will be constructed over NW 41st Street with ramp access to north bound HEFT/SR 821 and a slip ramp connecting northbound only NW 117th Avenue local traffic across NW 41st Street. Other improvements include subsoil excavation of unsuitable materials to facilitate roadway construction, signing and marking, drainage and stormwater management improvements, highway lighting, and upgraded ITS infrastructure. Several toll facilities are being added or replaced including the construction of 4 new All Electronic Tolling (AET) express lane facilities, 4 replacement ramp AET facilities, and new AET mainline facility with accessible toll gantries for both express and general purpose toll lanes located north of NW 74th Street.

The Project also won a Davis Productivity award.

$10.3 Million project includes construction of a new six lane, divided, urban roadway with bike lanes, curb & gutter and sidewalks on both sides. The project includes the installation of new drainage system: inlets, French drains and outfalls, new ADA compliant crosswalks, sidewalks, ramps, pedestrian handrails and traffic railings along canals. The project also includes minor widening, milling and resurfacing of the existing roadway as well as side streets to the pavement seam to ensure proper transitions with Pine Island Road. The project also includes relocation of existing City of Sunrise utilities, modification of existing signals, new signs, including pavement markings, and a new landscaping and irrigation systems.

F&J Engineering Group was selected as the Prime Consultant for this Project that is the largest ecological restoration project in the Continental US. The sole objective for Next Step Phase II is to restore the natural flow to Everglades National Park (ENP) and Florida Bay increasing flow to Shark River to help preserve and improve the natural wetland environment. The project occurs in one of the most sensitive wetland habitats in Florida serving as the northern border of ENP. The park is home to an impressive variety of threatened and endangered species. This Project is made up of 3 Segments between SFWMD Structure S-333 at the western limits and east of Structure S-334 as the eastern limits for 11 gross mi. less the 2 completed projects (TTP1 and 1 mi Bridge) for 7 mi approx. The project includes the reconstruction of the existing two-lane roadway and shoulders; realigning and raising the profile of the existing roadway approximately two feet, placement of geosynthetic reinforcements for roadway and base reinforcement, utility coordination, construction of 7 drainage culvert crossings, 6 bridges of 60’ span each, construction of drainage swales and harmonizing the proposed roadway to adjacent properties and SFWMD canals within the project limits. Final Typical Section: two 12’ undivided lanes in each direction with 10’ wide outside shoulders (5’ paved). 07/2020 – 01/2024

F&J was selected as the Prime Consultant and the project consists of resurfacing, rehabilitation, and restoration of 2.87 miles along Forest Hill Blvd. The project’s scope is to update existing roadway, pedestrian intersection lighting, and pedestrian signalization facilities to current standards. Video detection devices will be added to mast arm intersections throughout the corridor. In addition, upgrades to the bus stops will be done throughout the project limits. Forest Hill Blvd./SR-882 is located within Palm Beach County, with a portion of the roadway within the City of Wellington. 6/2021 to 4/2022
